Outside of hotels, restaurants, and Velib bicycle rentals, AE is not widely accepted. I should be surprised if a taxi were equipped to accept one.

When this happens I waive the taxi on and take the 1st one to accept card payment. If you prebook a taxi you should state clearly that you want to pay by card.
